The dry goods store and meat market was opened in 1937, in Eunice Louisiana. They were known for their world famous boudin and smoked sausage, tasso and specialty meats. 5 generations of the Johnson family worked and served the community until 2005.

In 2008 Johnsons Boucaniere was reopened in Lafayette, honoring the family recipies.
