About Meg Tran

Bio

Megan Tran is a visual artist from
Lafayette, Louisiana in the Southern United States.  She graduated from UL with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Design.  She currently works as a Jewelry conceptual artist at Stuller in addition to running an art business.

Artist Statement

Meg paints as a way to connect with people, and reconnect with herself. She uses several different mediums, however, her overall style balances whimsy and realism with the goal of capturing the feeling of a memory. Hidden details and symbolic elements are woven throughout her work, adding layers of personal meaning beneath the surface. She enjoys painting portraits because she wants to capture the feeling of being with that person. Her "Free Little Portrait" popups began as an exercise in building speed and social confidence, but have morphed into a joyful practice of community-building.
